    Louis XVI French Gilt Bronze and Patinated Mantel Clock made by François Vion, retailed by Cellier, Paris circa 1770-1780
    A striking example of late18th century French artistry, this ornate mantel clock is a true collector’s piece, crafted in gilt bronze and patinated bronze with exceptional attention to detail. The clock is boldly mounted atop a finely modeled black patinated horse, standing proudly on a richly ornamented gilt bronze base, evoking the grandeur of imperial equestrian statues.
    The circular enamel dial is signed “Cellier à Paris,” indicating a prestigious Parisian clockmaker, and features elegant Roman numerals with finely chased gilt hands. The case is lavishly adorned with neoclassical garlands and a finely detailed urn finial, further emphasizing its regal aesthetic. On the verso is is signed VION.
    This piece showcases the seamless blend of sculpture and horology characteristic of the French Empire and Louis XVI.
