Longines 18K Gold Pocket Watch, retailed by P. Zenetos Frères, Athens (1929)

An exceptional 18K gold pocket watch by Longines, retailed by P. Zenetos Frères, exclusive representatives of Longines for Greece, Athens. Diameter: 44 mm. The watch features a finely hand-finished Longines calibre with 16 jewels signed LONGINES and no 4785502, housed in an 18K gold case (no. 4785502) signed 0.750, 18K and no 4785502. The dial is of mother-of-pearl with Arabic numerals and seconds indicator at 6 o’clock. The dial is signed LONGINES P. ZENETOS FRERES ATHENES.

Accompanied by the original fitted Longines box, printed with the retailer’s name, and by the original handwritten sales receipt dated 5 December 1929, issued to Mr. Igoumenakis. The invoice details the purchase of this watch (noted in Greek as “ωρολ. Longines” (Longines watch), together with other jewelry items, signed by P. Zenetos.

A rare and historically significant timepiece — a complete Longines set with full Athens provenance and documentation, preserved in very good condition. There is some wear on the dial between 1 and 3 o’clock and between 3 and 4 o’clock. See photos. Accompanied with 18k gold chain, stamped 18k. Gross weight: 55.82g (pocket watch & chain)
