Yumiko Yoneda

Yumiko Yoneda was born in Matsue, Japan in 1965, lives and works in The Hague, The Netherlands.

After her graduation at Shimane University (visual art department, sculpture), she was invited to participate at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, The Netherlands, 1988-1990.

Since 1990 Yumiko Yoneda exposes her work on regular basis in The Netherlands as well as abroad.

She creates sculptures with mixed media technique, using modellingpaste, plaster, polystyrene, pulp, wood, etc.

Yumiko Yoneda’s work breaths concentration, subtlety and sensuality.

She creates step by step her sculptures into a smooth rounded perfection. Usually white, sometimes gray. If the daylight strikes the sculpture, it feels empty and full at the same time. Associations come and go.

The modest and pure presence of the work of Yoneda represents the inner strength of being and is the intense approach of nature and life itself.

Yumiko Yoneda is represented in Greece by Loudos Contemporary.
