A French patinated bronze figure depicting a semi-nude male seated on a naturalistic rockwork base, holding a staff and accompanied by an overturned vessel from which water flows, symbolizing the mythical Pactolus river of gold. The sculpture is inscribed to the front “La Source du Pactole” and signed to the side “E. Picault – Salon des Beaux-Arts”.
