Artist’s book comprising 17 original collages executed with cut Marlboro cigarette packaging and coloured paper elements on card
Each composition incorporates fragments of Marlboro packaging alongside geometric and abstract cut-paper forms, creating a sequence of playful and highly individual images. The recurring motifs of hearts, crowns, architectural forms, flames, arrows and landscape-like structures reflect Akrithakis? distinctive symbolic vocabulary and his characteristic transformation of everyday materials into poetic visual constructions.
Inscribed in Greek on the final page ‘This book with seventeen ‘Marlboro’ collages was made in Athens in August 1978′, signed Alexis Akrithakis and inscribed Atelier Akrithakis
