Notes and history of this artwork

This work was created by Konstantinos Karahalios around 1956–1957, while he was still residing at the University Gallery of Paris, in the Greek Pavilion. It is one of his earliest abstract compositions and was exhibited in 1957 by Iris Clert at the Galerie du Haut Pavé alongside Tsingos and Takis. The address on the reverse corresponds to that of the University Gallery of Paris. This piece is among his first abstract works featuring rich material texture. The artist would continue to develop in this direction and, a few years later, sign a contract with the Anderson Mayer Gallery (Kellogg family).
